Burkholderia zhejiangensis sp. nov., a methyl-parathion-degrading bacterium isolated from a wastewater-treatment system.
The taxonomic status of a methyl-parathion-degrading strain, OP-1(T), isolated from a wastewater-treatment system in China, was determined using a polyphasic approach. The rod-shaped cells were Gram-staining-negative, non-spore-forming and non-motile. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that the novel strain belonged to the genus Burkholderia, as it appeared closely...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Burkholderia sp. Strain MP-1, a Methyl Parathion (MP)-Degrading Bacterium from MP-Contaminated Soil
Burkholderia sp. strain MP-1 was isolated from pesticide-contaminated soil. Herein, we report the draft genome sequence of strain MP-1, which contains 168 contigs of 8,611,053 bp, with a G+C content of 62.55% and 7,631 protein-coding genes.
متن کاملDyadobacter jiangsuensis sp. nov., a methyl red degrading bacterium isolated from a dye-manufacturing factory.
A Gram-stain-negative, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterial strain, L-1(T), which was capable of degrading methyl red was isolated from a dye-manufacturing factory in China. Phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses established affiliation of the isolate to the genus Dyadobacter . Cells occurred in pairs in young cultures but became chains of coccoid cells in old cultures, and produced a...
متن کاملIsolation of methyl parathion-degrading strain M6 and cloning of the methyl parathion hydrolase gene.
A degradative bacterium, M6, was isolated and presumptively identified as Plesiomonas sp. strain M6 was able to hydrolyze methyl parathion to p-nitrophenol. A novel organophosphate hydrolase gene designated mpd was selected from its genomic library prepared by shotgun cloning. The nucleotide sequence of the mpd gene was determined. The gene could be effectively expressed in Escherichia coli.
متن کاملEnhancing methyl parathion degradation by the immobilization of Burkholderia sp. isolated from agricultural soils
Organophosphate pesticides are of great interest for research because they are currently the most commonly used pesticides. In this study, a bacterial strain capable of completely degrading methyl parathion (MP) was isolated from agricultural soils in central Mexico. This strain was designated strain S5-2 and was identified as Burkholderia cenocepacia. To increase degradation yields, cells were...
